Great ride.
Cheers to the blokes that put there hand up for this ride. Really made for a fun day on the bike.
Thanks Riles for taking the time to show us around.
The ride flowed well with some great track selection.
I especially liked our last hill climb. It was a doozy. Really added to the day.
Bit dusty in parts. But overall the tracks were in great shape. So long as you kept your eye on them. Did about 55 -60ks. Depending on what device you took notice of.
The beer after the ride at the local kinglake hotel were going down way to easy.
Till we ride again

Cruiser, thanks for posting up. It was a fun day and a big group in the end.
Here’s the only pic I got of the day
PS thanks for sweeping - I have your sweep vest and I’ll get it back to you next time

Re: Kinglake with the gang.
Yes awesome day out at Kinglake on Saturday, I had a bunch of fun!
It was a warm day out and the dust was pretty bad at times. I binned it in a corner at one point because I couldn't see the rut for the dust, riding the off camber inside of ruts just doesn't work...
Second ride for me on my new toy, Riles's old YZ125X (he made me an offer I couldn't refuse, can't thank you enough mate) so I was a bit unsure how I'd go but I managed to ride everything well except for the last hill. It was a doozy and at one spot I came to a stop and couldn't get going again. I repositioned myself to a different line and made it work, lesson learnt. Otherwise though the 125 is a heap of fun and I love it, just not everywhere.
After all that a couple of cold beers at the pub was called for and they went down so good.
Thanks for leading Riles it was a good ride

Re: Kinglake with the gang.
Cheers to Riles for letting me jump on late last minute when another ride fell through. I have never ridden at Kinglake before and followed RIles into the carpark to be greeted my many of the usual suspects! A bit of banter and a briefing and the dozen of us were off into vary degrees of dusty trails.
Tracks were fun and I was hopping lots of logs that had options to go around early with ease. As the day went on, the lack of seat time rose its head and I started dropping the bike a fair amount. When sweeping I had a problem with my bike not starting and after playing with the wires with Jono we got her going but unsure of the problem. We re-grouped and I said I would head back to the cars by myself once we found a road but the group said they wanted me to push on with them so I did. The button worked but sometimes with a slight second or 2 delay. I was waiting for others to put their hand up to pull the pin but Riles kept saying we were almost back at the cars.
We eventually pull up to this "doozy" of a hill and Riles said he has been trying to find this for a few years and our options are back the way we just came down or up this new challenge. A few riders are heading up with a couple of options of lines to take with varying degrees of success. I was thinking of turning around with the thought in the back of my head that I really don't want the bike to stuff up again on the middle of this doozy of a hill climb. But I didn't and had a crack, got an overtake up the hill and was pretty much dominating it until I tried to shortcut one line and jump a heap of uphill roots but with not enough pace and just got hung up. I roll back down a fraction and saw the actual way and got around to that then stalled the bike............and it didn't re-start! A few riders caught up and helped an we were in not to bad a spot to finally diagnose the problem, the starter button was broken where the bottom contacts. I had a big off at high speed just before christmas and a few things got bashed up and turned around and I guess thats when that happened. The rest of the climbed looked tough but somehow I managed alright timing the jumps of roots in ruts and got to the top realising that my fan wasn't working.
At the top some shade and banter while the rest all got up. Back at the car and Dann mentions beer at the pub and it just topped off what was an awesome but at times, dusty day, but thats riding in summer! Bit of a debrief then 2 hours drive home with slurpee's and coffee stops to keep me awake. Big cheers for posting up and hope to catch you all soon
